International Women’s Day Reminder for Women Abroad

This is a message for women abroad who are building a career and a life far from home.

Last weekend, I was invited to speak in front of dozens of women about growth mindset. It was empowering… and humbling. Because I presented right after a doctor and lecturer, Dr. Jane. And I felt it—that familiar voice: “Who am I to speak after her?”

The old version of me would probably convince myself not to show up. Or compare myself into paralysis. And honestly, that kind of thought is normal when you care.

But when the need to “do your best” turns into not moving at all, it becomes a problem. Because you don’t step forward. You get stuck.

This is exactly what I see with so many international women: you’re capable, hardworking, and resilient… but when the stakes feel high, self-doubt takes the wheel. You second-guess. You play small. You wait until you feel “ready.”

And the cost is real—especially in your career.

You stay in the job that drains you. You don’t apply. You don’t negotiate. You don’t share your ideas. You don’t allow yourself to want more.

Not because you’re lazy. Not because you’re not talented.

But because your system is trying to keep you safe.

Calm first, then strategy

My philosophy is simple: You can’t make clear decisions when your body is in survival mode.

When you’re tense, rushed, overwhelmed, or constantly on alert, your brain does what it’s designed to do: it scans for danger. So before we talk strategy, we create calm.

For me, calm I find through yoga. It might also be walking, or dancing in your kitchen—anything that brings you back to yourself. Because when your body feels safe, your mind becomes clearer.

Growth isn’t linear (and you’re not failing)

We often expect growth to look like: up, up, up.

But nature doesn’t grow like that.

Seasons change—and growth still happens.

Sometimes the most important progress is invisible: resting, rebuilding, nourishing the soil.

So if you’re in a low right now, I want you to hear this: It won’t stay there forever.

And if you’re in a high, enjoy it—and keep building what will support you when things shift again.

What this has to do with my work ?

I’m not here to give you motivational quotes.

I’m here to help you build that inner anchor.

Inside Women Abroad Reset, we work on:

  • Uncovering your strengths (even the ones you’ve been blind to)

  • Breaking the patterns that sabotage you (perfectionism, people-pleasing, comparison)

  • Building self-trust so you can make clear decisions and stop doubting yourself

So your choices stop being something you defend… and start being something you live.

If you’re a woman abroad and this resonates, I’d love to support you.

Start with a 45 minutes diagnostic call—we’ll look at what’s keeping you stuck and see if Women Abroad Reset is a good match for you.
